Manatee Observation and Education Center
The Center was built through community efforts and is a non-profit organization whose mission is to not only educate people about the endangered manatee, but to also promote an understanding of the Treasure’s Coast’s fragile ecosystems.
While manatees in their natural environment are certainly the draw, there are many other important Manatee Center highlights.
Here are just a few:
- Take a virtual journey of the Indian River Lagoon. A hands-on multimedia presentation titled Lagoon Life describes the plant and animal life in the Indian River Lagoon.
- Watch informative videos on manatees and other nature-related subjects.
- Listen to an audiotape describing manatees and the Indian River Lagoon, while on the observation deck looking for manatees in Moore’s Creek.
- Stroll through the beautiful butterfly gardens.
- Come enjoy an informative Friday Brown Bag Lunch Lecture.
- Take a Kayaking Adventure through a Florida wetland habitat.
- Interact with an exhibit featuring a unique Florida habitat.
- Enroll your child in one of our Saturday Art in Nature Workshops.
- Enroll your child or grandchild in one of our Nature Adventure camps
